Tips for Choosing a Real Estate Advisor

Joy Denton has more than 25 years of experience in real estate. Having earned her bachelor’s degree in environmental design from New York’s Syracuse University, Joy Denton, an agent at Sotheby’s International Realty, specializes in advising clients on properties around the fashionable Westside area of Los Angeles and Beverly Hills.

If you are interested in buying property, it’s important to choose a real estate advisor who acts in your best interests. Here are some tips to consider when it comes to choosing someone to turn to for property advice.

1. Look for an advisor with a consistent track record as a real estate agent. Aside from in-depth knowledge of real estate basics, impressive sales numbers represent a big plus.

2. An advisor should be highly familiar with his or her area of coverage. One who lives in a specific neighborhood, for example, is most likely acquainted with the pros and cons of purchasing properties within that area.

3. Do research on the awards and distinctions bestowed upon the advisor. Someone whose name is consistently in the top of real estate lists is certainly worth hiring. It is also recommended to investigate the company the advisor works for and check his or her standing against other agents.
